Clive Hornby, who played Jack Sugden in Emmerdale, died last night at the age of 63.

He has not been in the soap for about three months due to illness, although the exact illness has not yet been revealed.

Mr Hornby, was the longest serving actor in Emmerdale and Anita Turner, the Emmerdale series Producer said,

“This is a devastating loss and we are all deeply saddened.  Clive will be greatly missed by everyone who has worked with him on Emmerdale during the past 28 years.

He was a hugely popular and well-respected member of the cast and a terrific actor.  Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

He had played the part of Jack Sugden for 28-years after initially signing a three-month contract with the ITV soap.

Scott Mills, the Radio One DJ, once announced live on air how much he loved the programme Hollyoaks and has now been given an extra’s part.

He has apparently already filmed his acting debut in which he donned a police uniform and joined cast regulars for the scene which is due to be screened on 18th August.

A Hollyoaks insider said,

“He was very excited but nervous at the same time. He took it all really serious, which is quite out of character for him!”

Angela Wynter who plays Yolande Trueman in Eastenders will be finishing on the soap after playing the role for five years because of a shortage of storylines.

Ms. Wynter said,

“I’m not unhappy to leave Eastenders because life is about changes and new beginnings, but I am unhappy about the producers reasoning in how they come to their decision because you can always write stories for people to act.

My eyes almost fill every time people tell me how much they love Yolande, because it really makes me appreciate the responsibility that I have been carrying in getting her role right.

If it has to end, let it finish on a good note rather than her character becoming weak due to the producers.”

Ms. Wynter will be leaving the show in the Autumn and will filming her unknown final scenes in the next few months.

It has been reported that the Coronation Street actor Jack P Shephard who plays David Platt in the soap is to become a dad.

Jack and his girlfriend Lauren Shippey, have only recently got back together after splitting-up in March but friends say they are thrilled.

A friend said,

“He hasn’t been able to take the smile off his face since he found out.  Both of them reckon it’s the best news ever.”

He is the third cast member to reveal that there is a new baby on the way after Ryan Thomas who plays Jason Grimshaw is due to be a parent with Tina O’Brien who played Sarah Platt in the programme and also Andrew Whyment who plays Kirk Sutherland and his partner are expecting a new arrival.

Another Eastenders Star is too be killed-off after fourteen years in the soap.  Wellard, Robbie Jackson’s dog who was then cared for by Gus Smith after Robbie left for India in 2003.

Last month, Wellhard was re-homed yet again after Gus went off travelling with his girlfriend and he lived with Micky Miller until his family made him get rid of the dog.

He in turn sold him to Vinnie Monks as a present for his girlfriend but she didn’t want him either.  Whitney Dean then passed the animal onto her sister Tiffany to look after.

Genghis, the Millers dog will finish his role next week too, it’s a sad day!
