Samia Smith who plays Maria Connor in Coronation Street has announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband Matt.
The 26-year-old is thirteen weeks pregnant and is due to give birth in October, the tenth actor on the show to have become pregnant in the past two years.
Last week it was reported that the actress had taken some time out of the show after the death of her father who recently lost his battle with cancer.
The couple were said to be especially pleased that they were able to tell her father the good news before his death.
