<p>It has now been confirmed that Darren Day is joining the cast of the soap opera Hollyoaks where he will play the part of Danny Houston.</p>
<p>Danny is the best mate of Brendan Brady played by Emmet Scalan and a silent partner in her new business venture the &#8216;Chez Chez&#8217; nightclub, before it is discovered that he is not a person you want to be in business with.</p>
<p>The West End star confessed to have been a fan of the soap for sometime and will be making his debut on the programme in the second week of October for a short spell before making a dramatic reappearance later in the year.</p>

<p>Ben Freeman who played the part of Scott Windsor in Emmerdale from 1993-1996 has married the Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Biddall who played the part of Jessica Harris from 2005-2008.</p>
<p>The couple have been dating since January 2009 and became engaged at Christmas following their whirlwind romance.  They married at the Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe on Friday with the Hollyoaks actress Zoe Lister acting as a bridesmaid for the pair.</p>
<p>As well as living together, the couple have also been working together in a play at the Cheshire Theatre and will not be taking their honeymoon until the play finishes.</p>

<p>The Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle, has announced that he will be participating in the London Marathon this year, running for Virgin Unite.</p>
<p>Whittle who plays the part of Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap, has been busy training in between filming for the show, and has had the advantage of fitness training already after finishing runner-up in the &#8216;Strictly Come Dancing&#8217; series in December 2009.</p>
<p>However, the actor has also confessed to be recovering from a recent hernia operation which he kept quiet about while practising for the dance show as he didn&#8217;t want to go for the sympathy vote.</p>
<p>The charity Ricky is raising funds for is part of the Richard Branson Virgin group enterprise, a non-profit foundation which aims tackles social and and environmental problems.  The marathon is taking place on April 25th 2010.</p>

<p>Some of the members of the <strong>Coronation Street</strong> cast are to take part in &#8216;Celebrity Rockaoke&#8217; to raise money for injured British troops.</p>
<p><strong>Michelle Keegan, </strong>who plays the part of Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap will be heading the event alongside <strong>Helen Flanaga</strong>n (Rosie Webster) and<strong> Brooke Vincent </strong>(Sophie Webster), which is to take place at Manchester&#8217;s Moho Live venue.</p>
<p>The money is to go towards the BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Serviceman Association) and Macmillan Cancer Support and the event takes place on Tuesday December 8th at 8pm.</p>
<p>Other cast members expected to take to the stage are; <strong> Shobna Gulati</strong> (Sunita Alahan),<strong> Sasha Parkinson</strong> (Sian Powers), <strong>Nikki Patel</strong> (Amber Alahan) and <strong>Graeme Hawley</strong> (John Stape). <strong> Jeff Hordley</strong>, who plays Cain Dingle in Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks boys <strong>Andrew Moss</strong> (Rhys Ashworth) and <strong>Gerard McCarthy</strong> (Kris Fisher) along with <strong>Helen Pearson</strong> (Frankie Osborne) are also said to be attending.</p>

<p>The Hollyoaks actress <strong>Lena Kaur</strong>, who plays the part of art student Leila Roy in the popular Channel 4 soap, has revealed that she is leaving the show to pursue other projects.</p>
<p>The actress believes that now is the best time to chase after bigger roles as more Asian people are being given the chance for the top roles.</p>
<p>The 23-year-old, first appeared on our screens in June 2008 and will be seen leaving after being given a life changing opportunity to work in Paris with another artist.  Lena actually finishes filming in the studio next week but will still be appearing on our televisions until January.</p>

<p>Eastenders was voted the &#8216;Best Soap&#8217; last night at the Inside Soap Awards ceremony held at Sketch Nightclub in London&#8217;s West End.</p>
<p>Lacy Turner who plays the part of Stacey Slater in the BBC drama, was given the award for &#8216;Best Actress&#8217; for the fourth time in a row, while Charlie Brooks who plays Janine Butcher was voted &#8216;Best Bitch&#8217;.</p>
<p>Larry Lamb&#8217;s character Archie Mitchell, was voted &#8216;Best Bad Boy&#8217; and along with Charlie Brooks the couple also scooped the prize for &#8216;Best Storyline&#8217;.</p>
<p>Kara Tointon, who left the show earlier this year was voted &#8216;Best Dressed Female&#8217; for her character Dawn Swann and John Partridge, who plays the part of Christian Clarke was awarded &#8216;Sexiest Male&#8217;.</p>
<p>The cast of Coronation Street also one a selection of awards with Gray O&#8217;Brien voted &#8216;Best Actor&#8217; for his portrayal of Tony Gordon while  Michelle Keegan who plays Tina McIntyre was voted &#8216;Sexiest Female&#8217;.</p>
<p>The &#8216;Best Newcomer&#8217; award went to Coronation Street butcher Graeme Proctor, played by Craig Gazey and Maggie Jones received the award for &#8216;Funniest Performance&#8217; for her character Blanche Hunt.  Coronation street also received an award for Alex Bain for his character of the young Simon Barlow.</p>
<p>Hollyoaks only picked up one award last night for &#8216;Best Family&#8217; going to the McQueens, while The Bill was awarded the prize for &#8216;Best Drama&#8217; for the fourth consecutive year and Emmerdale left empty-handed.</p>

<p>The cast of the BBC 1 soap opera Eastenders, collected three of the five awards presented at the TV Quick and TV Choice Awards last night.</p>
<p>The ceremony took place at the Dorchester Hotel with the cast of the ITV soap &#8216;Emmerdale&#8217; and the Channel 4 soap &#8216;Hollyoaks&#8217;, leaving the annual event empty handed.</p>
<p>As well as receiving the Award for Best Soap, former Eastenders actress Lauren Crace, who played the part of Danielle Jones for seven-months, won the prize for the Best Soap Newcomer, despite leaving the show in April.</p>
<p>Lauren was also awarded for her part in the Best Soap Storyline, which saw Danielle attempting to build a relationship with her birth mother Ronnie Mitchell, played by Samantha Womack.  Just as Ronnie began to accept Danielle as her daughter, the young girl was tragically knocked-down by a car and killed.</p>
<p>Coronation Streets latest newly-weds Steve and Becky McDonald, played by Simon Gregson and Katherine Kelly, were presented for the awards for the Best Actor and Actress of 2009.</p>
