Sheree Murphy

Former Emmerdale actress and current Hollyoaks star Sheree Murphy was involved in a car accident in Manchester yesterday.

The actress who is married to footballer Harry Kewell, suffered whiplash in the incident and was said to have been very shaken up and frightened after the accident.

Murphy’s husband rushed to be at her side while her £180,000 Bentley was at the roadside waiting for a breakdown truck to arrive.

The 34-year-old is currently playing the part of Eva, the long lost mother of Anita Roy after formerly playing the role of Trisha Dingle in Emmerdale.

Ricky Whittle as Calvin Valentine

The Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle, has announced that he will be participating in the London Marathon this year, running for Virgin Unite.

Whittle who plays the part of Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap, has been busy training in between filming for the show, and has had the advantage of fitness training already after finishing runner-up in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ series in December 2009.

However, the actor has also confessed to be recovering from a recent hernia operation which he kept quiet about while practising for the dance show as he didn’t want to go for the sympathy vote.

The charity Ricky is raising funds for is part of the Richard Branson Virgin group enterprise, a non-profit foundation which aims tackles social and and environmental problems.  The marathon is taking place on April 25th 2010.

Tina McIntyre - Coronation Street

Some of the members of the Coronation Street cast are to take part in ‘Celebrity Rockaoke’ to raise money for injured British troops.

Michelle Keegan, who plays the part of Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap will be heading the event alongside Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) and Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), which is to take place at Manchester’s Moho Live venue.

The money is to go towards the BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Serviceman Association) and Macmillan Cancer Support and the event takes place on Tuesday December 8th at 8pm.

Other cast members expected to take to the stage are;  Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan), Sasha Parkinson (Sian Powers), Nikki Patel (Amber Alahan) and Graeme Hawley (John Stape).  Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle in Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks boys Andrew Moss (Rhys Ashworth) and Gerard McCarthy (Kris Fisher) along with Helen Pearson (Frankie Osborne) are also said to be attending.

Hollyoaks

The Hollyoaks actress Lena Kaur, who plays the part of art student Leila Roy in the popular Channel 4 soap, has revealed that she is leaving the show to pursue other projects.

The actress believes that now is the best time to chase after bigger roles as more Asian people are being given the chance for the top roles.

The 23-year-old, first appeared on our screens in June 2008 and will be seen leaving after being given a life changing opportunity to work in Paris with another artist.  Lena actually finishes filming in the studio next week but will still be appearing on our televisions until January.

Eastenders

Eastenders was voted the ‘Best Soap’ last night at the Inside Soap Awards ceremony held at Sketch Nightclub in London’s West End.

Lacy Turner who plays the part of Stacey Slater in the BBC drama, was given the award for ‘Best Actress’ for the fourth time in a row, while Charlie Brooks who plays Janine Butcher was voted ‘Best Bitch’.

Larry Lamb’s character Archie Mitchell, was voted ‘Best Bad Boy’ and along with Charlie Brooks the couple also scooped the prize for ‘Best Storyline’.

Kara Tointon, who left the show earlier this year was voted ‘Best Dressed Female’ for her character Dawn Swann and John Partridge, who plays the part of Christian Clarke was awarded ‘Sexiest Male’.

The cast of Coronation Street also one a selection of awards with Gray O’Brien voted ‘Best Actor’ for his portrayal of Tony Gordon while  Michelle Keegan who plays Tina McIntyre was voted ‘Sexiest Female’.

The ‘Best Newcomer’ award went to Coronation Street butcher Graeme Proctor, played by Craig Gazey and Maggie Jones received the award for ‘Funniest Performance’ for her character Blanche Hunt.  Coronation street also received an award for Alex Bain for his character of the young Simon Barlow.

Hollyoaks only picked up one award last night for ‘Best Family’ going to the McQueens, while The Bill was awarded the prize for ‘Best Drama’ for the fourth consecutive year and Emmerdale left empty-handed.

Damielle Jones - Eastenders

The cast of the BBC 1 soap opera Eastenders, collected three of the five awards presented at the TV Quick and TV Choice Awards last night.

The ceremony took place at the Dorchester Hotel with the cast of the ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’ and the Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’, leaving the annual event empty handed.

As well as receiving the Award for Best Soap, former Eastenders actress Lauren Crace, who played the part of Danielle Jones for seven-months, won the prize for the Best Soap Newcomer, despite leaving the show in April.

Lauren was also awarded for her part in the Best Soap Storyline, which saw Danielle attempting to build a relationship with her birth mother Ronnie Mitchell, played by Samantha Womack.  Just as Ronnie began to accept Danielle as her daughter, the young girl was tragically knocked-down by a car and killed.

Coronation Streets latest newly-weds Steve and Becky McDonald, played by Simon Gregson and Katherine Kelly, were presented for the awards for the Best Actor and Actress of 2009.

Hollyoaks

Alison Burrows has been signed-up to play the part of Kathleen McQueen, mother of Theresa, in the popular Channel 4 soap drama Hollyoaks.

The actresses first appearance will be on the Hollyoaks Later series when Theresa decides to visit her in prison while on a trip to London.

Theresa is delighted to see her mother who has decided to turn her life around on her release but is not so happy when Kathleen tells her she intends to live in Spain with her boyfriend.

Burrows first screen appearance is to take place on Wednesday 30th September before joining the main Hollyoaks programme full-time in December.

Hollyoaks

It has been confirmed that Junade Khan who plays the part of Ash Roy in Hollyoaks is leaving the Channel 4 show next month along with his screen parents.

The 27-year-old, is disowned by his family after punching his brother Ravi in an illegal fight, rupturing his aneurysm and putting him into a coma.

His parents find out that he allowed his brother to fight despite knowing of his delicate condition and throw him out of their home and the village.

Khan, who has played the character for the past ten months will appear on our screens for the final time on Friday 11th September.

Fabia Cerra, 35, shocked members of the audience and the panel of judges when she performed her burlesque act on the show, which also received several complaints from TV viewers to Ofcom.

After reaching the semi-finals of the talent show, Fabia was offered the part which has now been filmed and will appear on our screens in September, when she will perform with a group of belly dancers at the re-opening of the villages ‘Loft’ Nightclub.

As Mandy Salter in Eastenders

Nicola Stapleton, who played the part of Mandy Salter in Eastenders from 1992-1994, is now joining the cast of Hollyoaks Later, where she will play the role of Savannah, a friend of Cindy’s from Spain.

Mandy Salter arrived in Eastenders as a 15-year-old tearaway who manipulated and used people to get what she wanted.

In September 2008, the 34-year-old actress, was seen in the Dales of Yorkshire when she acted as Eli Dingle’s friend in Emmerdale, known as Danielle Hutch.

Her first appearance in Emmerdale was in an hour-long special when she was knocked down by a speeding car driven by Eli Dingle.
