The actress Gemma Bissex, who plays Clare Bates in the BBC soap Eastenders, is leaving the show later this year.
Ms. Bissex, 24, first appeared on the programme in 1993, but left five years later with her on-screen father Nigel Bates, played by Paul Bradley. She then returned in February of this year following a stint on Hollyoaks as Clare Devine.
A source said “Clare has been working her way round the men of Walford for the past few months but what she had thought was a master-plan to bag the man of her dreams soon gets out of hand. She is forced to flee as it is clear she is not welcome in Albert Square anymore.”
A spokesperson for the show has confirmed that the actress will be leaving when her contract ends.
