Madhav Sharma played the part of Ranjiv Alahan, Dev Alahan’s father in Coronation Street in October 2004, in scenes of Dev’s wedding.
Now it seems that he is returning to the soap but as a completely different character. He will now be playing the role of Prem Mandel, who becomes friendly with Dev.
However, Dev cheats on the entrepeneur when he has an affair with the businessman’s wife.

This answers one thing – I couldnt understand why Dev was acting so strangely with his dad. So his dad isnt his dad after all – he’s his new friend now!!
If they are going to bring characters along again – 4 years is too soon for regular viewers. I’m sure I’m not the only one who got confused. Are they that short of Asian actors? What happens if they want to bring Dev’s dad back into it? They’ll probably just dress Dev up and get him to play both parts!
