The cast of Coronation Street are said to be furious after being told that they are to lose their free catering facilities due to cutbacks.

The actors and actresses will now have to use the staff canteen and pay for their food like everyone else despite feeling that this privilege was part of their employment package.

The privately owned catering firm, has for years provided the actors with hot drinks and meals while they were worked long hours, often outside, but that has now come to an end due to the economic situation.

The Granada executives have said that the facilities will still be available for location shoots.
