Rita Sullivan
Barbara Knox, who has played Rita Sullivan in the popular ITV soap Coronation Street for the past 37-years, will be missing from the programme for a six-week stint with as she deals with a health problem.
The 75-year-old actress, requested the time off set from her bosses after having explained the mysterious non-serious health issue, but has said that she will back on screen in the Autumn.
A Weatherfield insider told how story-lines had to be rewritten as well as shooting a scene which would explain the absence of the actress.
