June Brown who played the lovely Dot Cotton in Eastenders, has been awarded an MBE.
The 81-year-old actress has played the part of Dot in the soap since 1985 and is the longest running cast member apart from Ian Beale played by Adam Woodyatt.
Ms. Brown was honoured for services to drama and charity and she said how “lovely” it was.
Strange as it may seem, June Brown was actually recommended to the soap’s producers for the role of Dot by Dirty Den (Leslie Grantham).
