The lovely June Brown who plays Dot Cotton in Eastenders, feels that the smoking ban has ruined her life.
The actress said in an interview on This Morning, “I don’t like doing interviews very much, I don’t like not being able to smoke.”
She added “I keep saying I’m not going to go anywhere where I’m not allowed to smoke, then I find I’ve done it.
You can’t go anywhere and smoke now – it’s ruined my life. It’s ruined the whole end of my life. At my age, I should be allowed concessions. I should be allowed to do as I please.”
Last week June Brown was awarded an MBE for her services to drama and charity in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

An alternative to smoking bans
There has never been a single study showing that exposure to the low levels
of smoke found in bars and restaurants with decent modern ventilation and
filtration systems kills or harms anyone.
As to the annoyance of smoking, a compromise between smokers and non-smokers
can be reached, through setting a quality standard and the use of modern
ventilation technology.
Air ventilation can easily create a comfortable environment that removes not
just passive smoke, but also and especially the potentially serious
contaminants that are independent from smoking.
