The ex-Eastenders star, Letitia Dean, who played Sharon Watts in the BBC soap, is joining the cast of High School Musical when it comes to London in the summer.
Letitia said “I’m so, so excited. I can’t wait to get started.” The 40-year-old actress, will play the role of the drama teacher Miss Darbus in the show so now she will be able to use the skills she learned during her Strictly Come Dancing time.
The West End production will start rehearsals next month and Letitia is more than ready for the show which was a world-wide hit at the cinemas. She said “It’s just brilliant. Feel good and fun, great music and uplifting. My street cred has shot up with friends children - forget anything else I’ve done.”
Letitia was voted out in the quarter-finals of Strictly Come Dancing just a week before the final.
Ms Dean said “I adore musical theatre -I grew up loving shows like Calamity Jane. But the last time I was actually in one myself was when I was 13-years-old and in Annie. So this is my chance to polish up what I learned in my youth.”
Ticket sales are already on the up with more than 200,000 people expected through the doors during Letitia’s nine-week run. Letitia added “It’s very nerve-wracking and I only hope I do the role justice. I’ve been working on my American accent and I’m getting there.”
