Wendy Richards To Marry Today

Wendy Richards who played Pauline Fowler in Eastenders from 1985- 2006, will marry her long-term partner, John Burns today before beginning treatment for cancer on Monday.

The 65-year-old actress revealed this week that her cancer had returned and spread to her left armpit, right kidney and bones.

The couple are to marry at the Chesterfield Hotel in Mayfair in front of 60 of their family and friends including, Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Fowler), Perry Fenwick ( Billy Mitchell), Laila Moore (Mo Slater), Joel Beckett (Jake Moon), Todd Carty (Mark Fowler) and Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell).

Ms. Richards and Mr Burns have been together for thirteen years and had planned to marry in the future but have decided to bring the date forward so that they can enjoy the day together, without the pain of chemotherapy.

Tom Chambers To Leave Holby City

After being a regular on the screens of Holby City, it has been announced that the lovely Tom Chambers is to quit the popular hospital soap.

He plays the part of doctor Sam Strachan and he will finish on the show with an emotional scene although it has not been confirmed if he will actually be killed off or not.

His character was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, stage three in November 2007 and was given a 40% chance of survival, so maybe this could be the dramatic storyline which will appear on our screens at Christmas time.

He has recently been on our screens in a completely different scenario, as a contestant on ‘Stricly Come Dancing.

Nick Cotton Is Returning To Eastenders

John Altman, who played the part of Nick Cotton in Eastenders is due to make a return to the show at Christmas.

The 56-year-old actor, left the soap in 2001 after a furious row with his mother Dot Branning, after his son was tragically killed in the BBC show.

It turned out that he had actually cut the brake cable on Mark Fowler’s motorbike, but his son took the bike and was fatally injured.

He will begin filming scenes for the programme later this month but the producers are keeping tight lipped about the actual date of his appearance on our screens although it is thought to be around the same time that the lovely Janine Butcher returns to Albert Square.

Watching The Soaps

The stars of the British soaps turned out last night for the Inside soap awards with Eastenders being voted the Best Soap and taking the majority of the gongs.

Kara Tointon who plays Dawn Swann in Eastenders won an award for the Sexiest Female and didn’t disappoint her fans as she wore a figure-hugging gold dress and a new hairstyle. The new brunette bob was actually a wig but she looked fantastic.

Rita Simmons who plays Roxy Slater in the BBC soap was voted the Best Newcomer and Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Branning, was again awarded the gong for Best Actress as well as part of the Best Couple alongside her on-screen husband, Bradley Branning played by Charlie Clements.

Sean Slater played by Robert Kazinsky in Eastenders won the Best Actor plus the Sexiest Male while Cheryl Fergison who plays Heather Trott was awarded for the Funniest Performance.

Coronation Street took awards for Best Bad Boy, played by Jack P Shepherd, who’s character is David Platt and Alison King who plays Carla Connor was voted the Best Bitch.

Kym Marsh who plays a barmaid in Coronation Street was voted the Best-Dressed Soap Star of 2008.

The Best Drama award went to The Bill while the Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Chris Chittell who plays the part of Eric Pollard in Emmerdale.

Hollyoaks won an award for the Best Young Actor played by Ellis Hollins who’s character is Tom Cunningham.

Coronation Street Christmas Song

Ian Reddington who plays Vernon Tomlin in Coronation Street, sang a song to his on-screen wife Liz McDonald played by Beverley Callard.

He was hoping the song would reunite the love between them but not all goes according to plans which will be viewed this week.

However, after the response from viewers about the song, written by scriptwriters and titled ‘Dont Fall Into’, the popular British soap team are hoping to have the song released in time for Christmas.

Emmerdale Star In Court Today

Luke Tittensor who plays Daz Eden in Emmerdale, is in court today after being charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He is to appear before the magistrates in Rochdale in connection with the incident in which another mans jaw was broken. The case is expected to sent for trial at Crown court and if the actor is found guilty, he could be sent to prison for up to five years.

Jack Ryder Now In ‘The Archers’

According to reports, the ex-Eastenders star Jack Ryder, is to join the cast of ‘The Archers’ on BBC Radio 4. He is to play the part of a character called Ryan who is connected to the programmes resident vet, Alistair Lloyd.

The 26-year-old actor, who recently separated from his wife, Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, played the part of Jamie Mitchell in Eastenders until he was killed off in a car accident in 2002.

He will joint the Archers cast this week on a three month storyline.

Lynda Baron Returns To Eastenders

The actress Lynda Baron is allegedly to return to Albert Square as the character Linda Clarke later this year. The 66-year-old is best known for her role as Nurse Gladys Emanuel in the classic comedy ‘Open All Hours’.

The character is the mother of Jane Beale and Christian Clarke and was last seen in the BBC soap in 2006 when Jane’s affair with Grant Mitchell was revealed at the wedding ceremony of her daughter to Ian Beale.

John Thompson Joins Coronation Street

John Thompson

Actor and comedian, John Thompson, is to appear in Coronation Street for a storyline over three episodes which will be screened towards the end of the year.

He will be playing the part of a children’s entertainer called Jessie who is down on his luck and it is hoped that there may be more work for the actor later in the ITV soap.

Thompson has made appearances on The Fast Show as well as the popular Cold Feet where he played Pete Gifford.
