Charlie Lawson, who played the part of Jim McDonald, is returning to the streets of Weatherfield after a considerable absence due to suffering personal problems with alcohol, drugs and a broken marriage.
Jim, first appeared on Coronation Steet back in 1989 with his wife Liz and twin sons Steve and Andy. Jim returned to the Street in several short appearances after being jailed in 2000. He broke out of Jail in 2003 but was soon back inside after giving himself up, he then attacked another prisoner and had his parole revoked and was to remain in prison until 2008.
He was given early release in 2007 for good behaviour and appeared to have changed for the better until he proceeded to attack his ex-wife’s future husband Vernon, on their wedding day and was told by his son that he was no longer welcome to stay.
Lawson has been given a one-off appearance but is hoping it could lead to something more permanent, he will appear alongside his son Andy played by Nick Cochrane.
