Coronation Street’s lovely Liam Connor, played by Rob James-Collier, is leaving the soap and confessed to be “glad” to be ridding himself of the characters sex symbol image.
For the second year running, Rob has been voted the sexiest male at the The British Soap Awards, which he has said influenced his decision to quit the ITV programme.
He said “In a way this is why I am glad to be leaving the show. You can work your nuts off acting-wise, but as soon as you appear on screen in a towel, bingo, you’re the sexiest male.”
Rob intends to do some serious acting and is adamant that he will not be doing pantomime, unlike other ex-soap stars, and said “I won’t be doing panto. I want to be taken seriously as an actor and that means landing the right part.”
