Maggie O’Neill, who played the role of Sheila Jackson in ‘Shameless’ on Channel 4, has joined the cast of Eastenders.
Ms. O’Neil will play the part of Suzy Branning, another of the growing Branning siblings, she is the fourth eldest of the six Branning children.
She is to be another of Phil Mitchell’s love interests after he helps her out when she gets into an awkward situation with an ex.
O’Neill said “The Branning’s are a great family and I am really excited to become one of them. Suzy is a woman to be reckoned with and I’m looking forward to playing her”.
Diederick Santer, the executive producer of Eastenders said “I’ve long admired Maggie’s work from her outstanding performance in ‘Take Me Home’ to her hilarious and moving Sheila in ‘Shameless’. She’s yet another top drawer addition to our wonderful cast.”
Ms. O’Neill will start filming with the soap next month and should start appearing on screen in early to mid summer.

She’s got fat, much to the disappointment of my husband!! and I can’t understand a word she’s saying! She sounds like she’s got her teeth permanently clenched – if that’s what she think EastEnders sound like there’s hope for Geordies yet!
Give it up, Maggie, and go back to real theatre! You’re wasted here, girl!

I love Susie!!!! She’s such a great character!!! I love her personality and the way she doesnt care what anyone thinks of her. She’s so beautiful, too!
