The real-life husband of Jane Danson who plays Leanne Battersby in Coronation Street has now joined the soap.
Robert Beck has already played parts in Emmerdale, Brookside and The Bill, and started filming his scenes on the ITV soap this week.
He will be playing the role of hard man Jimmy Dockerson, an old friend of Gray O’Brien’s, played by Tony Gorden, and he will appear on the screen sometime next month.
A friend of the couple’s said “[Jane] was over the moon when Robert landed the role. Now they can get up in the morning and go to work together.”
The couple met at the British Soap Award’s in 1999 and married in 2005.
