It has been revealed that seven of the Coronation Street characters will be leaving the show this year.
The Morton Family who run the Kebab shop, Jerry played by Michael Starke, and his children in the soap, Mel (Emma Edmonson), Darryl (Johnny Dixon), Kayleigh (Jessica Bardon) and Finlay (Ramone Quinn), will all be leaving later on in the year.
The father and son who run the bookies, Harry (Jack Ellis) and Dan Mason (Matthew Compton), will also be leaving after only having joined the soap in December.
Liz McDonalds new husband Vernon Tomlin, played by Ian Reddington, will be leaving in September.
It was reported earlier this year that the new boss was looking to axe some of the older members of the popular soap, but this has been denied.
Kim Crowther, one of the soap’s bosses said “Coronation Street has always had a tradition of characters who come in and play out storylines beside established characters before moving on. As in any community there are people who live there for years and people that pass through. We still have some interesting storylines to play with these characters. They are all talented actors and we wish them well.”
